Scripting

Client-side scripts are executable programs that can be included with or actually embeded in XHTML pages. Theses scripts allow developers to create XHTML pages that can interact with the user rather than being just a static presentation of text and images.

XHTML doesn't recognize a default scripting language but developers can specify one by placing a meta tag with the following format in a page's head section.

<meta http-equiv="Content-Script-Type" content="type" />

type should be text defining the scripting language to be used, e.g. text/tcl, text/javascript or text/vbscript.
