Modeling

In this chapter, we're going to think about techniques that we can sketch the graphs of polynomial functions. The results will just be sketches, i.e. there's going to be a certain amount of accepted inaccuracy to them. In calculus, you'll see techniques that can let you refine graphs further to include several features that our sketches here will gloss over.

Video Lectures

To sketch the graph of a polynomial, we focus on two parts: What's going on at the edges and what's going on in the middle. End behavior is the tool that we use to analyze what the graph of a polynomial is doing at its edges. (lecture slides)
In this lecture, we're going to see how to analyze the end behavior of a polynomial function that's in its factored form without going to the trouble of multiplying it out.
